NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) said excessive alcohol intake could lead to "uncharacteristic behaviour".
It warned that this could lead to a risk of exposure to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or HIV.
Hogmanay events are being held across the west of Scotland, with up to 25,000 people expected in Glasgow alone.
NHS GGC's principal health improvement officer, Nicky Coia, said: "STIs are virtually all preventable.
"Using a condom protects you and your partner from infections like this, not to mention the transmission of HIV.
"Nothing spoils what should be a time of celebration more than a sexually transmitted infection and there is so much you can do to protect yourself.
"It's better to be safe than sorry, so anyone who is sexually active should take condoms with them, even if they don't think they will be having sex."
