BBC News - November 10, 2006
Giovanni Mola, 38, pleaded not guilty to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct from September 2003 to February 2004.
Advocate depute Graeme Jessop, prosecuting, told judge Lord Hodge at the High Court in Edinburgh that Mr Mola had to be extradited from Italy.
He is accused of refusing to wear a condom during sex.
The charge alleges that at an address in Home Street, Tollcross, Mr Mola failed to tell his then girlfriend - identified only in court papers as Miss X - that he was infected with the HIV virus and Hepatitis C.
The charge goes on to allege that Miss X became infected with both HIV and Hepatitis C "to her permanent impairment, to the danger of her health and to the danger of her life".
A trial date has been fixed for next month and Mr Mola was remanded in custody until then.
