Russian doctors devise new method to counter HIV

BBC News - Saturday, January 17, 1998

Russian doctors have devised what they say is a unique method of strengthening the body's system against the HIV virus that can lead to AIDS, Russian Moscow Echo radio reported on Friday.

The method is based on moderate irradiation to make the human body less susceptible to HIV infection.

A small amount of blood is taken from a person, irradiated by X-rays, then returned intravenously into the body as an HIV vaccine, the radio said.
