"Above and Beyond" has been previously displayed at the Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center and the Calderwood Pavillion, both of which are also located in the South End. History Project Co-Chair Pat Gozemba is delighted the exhibit will continue to find an audience at the MALE Center. "We hope that impact will be to, of course raise awareness of HIV/AIDS," said Gozemba. "We also hope that it will teach to the younger generation the whole story of the bravery of the generations from 25 years ago and how they had to face this crisis with no help at all in many respects."
Gozemba hopes to see the exhibit eventually move onto college campuses in an ongoing effort to educate younger people about the impact of the disease Northeastern University, Mt. Wachusett Community College and Salem State College, she said, have already expressed an interest in hosting "Above and Beyond" on their campuses. Gozemba would like to see college faculty use tie the exhibit in with their coursework, "because that way we know students will go and see it and they'll take it more seriously."
