The open house will be held at the home of Dr. Jason Tokumoto, an HIV/AIDS physician and founder of Inner Circle, which began about a year ago but has just recently taken flight.
"In my experience the spiritual part of a person has not been considered when it comes to HIV, and I have found it to be a real powerful instrument in the healing process," said Tokumoto. "This group is not focused on one organized religion, but rather allows everyone to bring their spirituality to the table. In this day and age when everyone is trying to seek something beyond the daily routine, there is a definite need for such an organization."
Although there is no set program for Inner Circle, Tokumoto said that in the past he has sponsored activities like spiritual retreats for interested participants.
"We are mostly trying to provide a forum and safe environment for individuals affected by HIV to have a place to share and relate to each other their spirituality," he said.
The Inner Circle open house is free and open to the public and is located at 4143 20th Street in San Francisco. Afterwards, participants may join the group in the walk to the AIDS Candlelight Vigil at Castro and Market streets.
