Free HIV testing offered in Concord

Bay Area Reporter - December 28, 2000
Katie Szymanski

People hold various beliefs about the significance of HIV in their lives, but it has been argued that it is always helpful to know your own status, especially if you can do so without identifying yourself. Beginning on January 8, the Contra Costa Public Health AIDS program will offer this opportunity.

Free and anonymous HIV testing will be provided on a bimonthly basis for the next six months at the Rainbow Community Center, 2118 Willow Pass Road, Suite 500, in downtown Concord. The program is presented in conjunction with a weekly Monday support group for HIV-positive men and their families, which starts on January 22.

The scheduled dates for anonymous testing are as follows: January 8 and 22; February 12 and 26; March 5 and 19; April 2 and 16; May 7 and 21; and June 4 and 18.

For more information on the testing program, call (925) 692-0090. More information about Contra Costa County's health services is available by calling (925) 313-6750, or (800) 479-9664.
