Mylan said the FDA approved its generic version in 15 milligram, 20 milligram, 30 milligram and 40 milligram doses. U.S. sales of those doses of Zerit, or stavudine, totaled $54 million in the 12 months ended Sept. 30, Mylan said.
The generic is made by Matrix Laboratories Ltd., an Indian company primarily owned by Mylan.
In morning trading, Mylan shares added 14 cents to $9.65. Shares of Bristol-Myers Squibb rose 7 cents to $22.70.
