"We have got to do everything we possibly can to make sure we put the support in but also reduce the price of the drugs for treatment for people in some of the poorest countries in the world," Blair told the House of Commons.
"And we are working with the drug companies to do this because if the right combination of measures on prevention and treatment are given then there is no doubt we can make a significant difference to this problem," Blair said.
Blair added that the U.K. was now the second biggest donor after the U.S. to the UNAIDS fund, a U.N. program dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS.
"Our funding has actually increased sevenfold over the past few years -it is almost 300 million pounds in this financial year," Blair said.
