Corrections officers Jerry Sowa and John Warren were suspended without pay, pending an administrative hearing, by the supervisor of the AIDS ward at Trenton State Prison, William McClammy, said the spokesman, Pat Mulcahy.
Two of the four escapees remained at large yesterday.
One was arrested the night of the escape and a second was captured Tuesday after he and a companion tried to burglarize a Bergen County home, corrections officials said.
The Paramus police charged Anthony Talarico, 24 years old, of Edison, Kenneth Silvani, 34, of Toms River, with burglary and possession of marijuana, Police Chief Joseph Delaney said.
The two inmates who remain free are Tatammul Hassan Sadaat, 24, of Newark, who was serving a 20-year term for robbery, and Donald Bowen, 30, of East Orange, who was serving 4 to 12 years for robbery. Quinton McKie, 28, of Newark, was apprehended a few blocks from the prison while driving a stolen car the night of the escape.
