The woman, who has been identified only as Susan Doe, continued to object to the visits by the girls, who are 9 and 11 years old, on the ground that they would endanger their "physical, mental, moral and emotional health."
The father now lives in San Francisco.
Her attorney, Patrick McGann, told Judge Howard Kaufman of Cook County Circuit Court his client was dropping her request for the test because, "We now believe that the antibody test is not reliable." The blood test is designed to detect antibodies to the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome, but experts say its presence does not necessarily mean the deadly disease will develop.
Judge Kaufman scheduled another hearing for Oct. 1 on the issue of allowing the overnight visits.
