Toyako, 8. Juli (AFP) - Die G-8-Staaten haben für den Kampf gegen Infektionskrankheiten in Entwicklungsländern Ausgaben von 60 Milliarden Dollar (gut 38 Milliarden Euro) innerhalb von fünf Jahren beschlossen. Dies wurde am Dienstag beim G-8-Gipfel im japanischen Toyako in einer gemeinsamen Erklärung der acht führenden Industriestaaten bekannt gegeben. Die Gesundheitsausgaben sollen vor allem dem afrikanischen Kontinent zugute kommen. Schwerpunkte sind der Kampf gegen Malaria, Aids und Tuberkulose. Beim G-8-Gipfel in Heiligendamm war bereits ein Grundsatzbeschlsus über die Zusage von 60 Milliarden Dollar gefasst worden, ohne dass jedoch ein fester Zeitrahmen genannt wurde.
