Ottawa, 5. April (AFP) - Ein kanadisches Gericht hat einen Aidskranken zu 18 Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt, weil er durch ungeschützten Sex Frauen wissentlich der Gefahr der Ansteckung aussetzte. Der 32-Jährige Carl Leone habe für zehn Minuten sexueller Befriedigung "ein verachtenswertes und egoistisches Verbrechen" begangen, sagte ein Richter des Kammergerichts von Ontario am Freitag in der Urteilsverkündung. Das Gericht sah es als erwiesen an, dass der Angeklagte trotz seiner Infektion mit dem Aidsvirus in 15 Fällen ungeschützten Geschlechtsverkehr mit Frauen hatte. Fünf der Frauen sind nun ebenfalls mit dem Virus infiziert.
Der Anwalt Leone sagte beim Verlassen des Gerichts, sein Mandant werde das Urteil nicht anfechten. Der regionalen Gesetzgebung zufolge müssen mit dem Virus infizierte Personen ihre Partner vor dem Geschlechtsverkehr über das Ansteckungsrisiko aufklären.
