Brüssel, 22. Mai (AFP) - Der belgische Zeichner Hergé, Vater der weltberühmten Comicfiguren Tim und Struppi, ist womöglich an Aids gestorben. Viel deute darauf hin, dass sich Hergé das Immunschwächevirus HIV bei Bluttransfusionen zugezogen habe, sagte sein Biograph Philippe Goddin der belgischen Zeitung "Le Soir" (Dienstagausgabe) anlässlich des 100. Geburtstages des Zeichners. Bisher galt Blutkrebs als Todesursache.
Hergé wurde am 22. Mai 1907 als Georges Remi in Brüssel geboren. Als "Hergé" (nach seinen umgedrehten Initialen R.G.) zeichnete er ab 1929 die Abenteuer des Reporters Tim und seines Hundes Struppi. In den Jahren vor seinem Tod 1983 musste sich Hergé laut seinem Biographen wöchentlichen Bluttransfusionen unterziehen, da er unter einer seltenen Erbkrankheit litt.
"HIV war damals bereits bekannt, konnte aber nicht im Blut nachgewiesen werden", sagte Goddin. Nach seinen Nachforschungen deuten die häufigen Grippeanfälle und Lungenentzündungen, unter denen Hergé danach litt, auf eine Aids-Erkrankung hin.
