Berlin, 26. März (AFP) - In Berlin sind am Montag die Entwicklungsminister der G8-Staaten zur Vorbereitung des G8-Gipfels in Heiligendamm zusammengekommen. Schwerpunktthemen des zweitägigen Treffens sollten Afrika und die Entwicklungspolitik sein, teilte Bundesentwicklungsministerin Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul (SPD) mit. Außerdem sollte über die Bekämpfung von Armut und der Immunschwächekrankheit Aids, die Stärkung globaler Partnerschaften und Maßnahmen gegen den drohenden Klimawandel beraten werden.
Es bedürfe der engen Zusammenarbeit von Industrie-, Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern, um die Millenniumsziele bis 2015 zu erreichen, sagte Wieczorek-Zeul. Daher seien erstmalig Vertreter aus Indien, China, Brasilien, Mexiko und Südafrika sowie der afrikanischen Regionalorganisationen zu dem Treffen eingeladen. Das Treffen sei eine gute Gelegenheit zur Vorbereitung auf den G8-Gipfel vom 6. bis 8. Juni, sagte Wieczorek-Zeul.
Zur G8 gehören die USA, Kanada, Deutschland, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Italien, Japan und Russland. Deutschland hat in diesem Jahr den G8-Vorsitz.
