New York, 12. Mai (AFP) - "King Kong"-Star Naomi Watts wird UN-Sondervertreterin im Kampf gegen Aids. Die in Großbritannien geborene Schauspielerin werde ihr Engagement für das UN-Programm UNAIDS am Montag in New York offiziell mitteilen, sagte ein UN-Sprecher am Freitag. Aufgabe der 37-Jährigen wird es sein, den weltweiten Kampf gegen die Immunschwächekrankheit Aids sichtbarer zu machen und sich für die Bedürfnisse von Aids-Patienten einzusetzen. Watts wurde mit ihren Rollen in "The Ring" und "Mulholland Drive" berühmt und war für ihre Rolle in "21 Gramm" für den Oscar nominiert.
