Pretoria, 15. Januar (AFP) - Die südafrikanische Regierung will die Preise für Medikamente um 40 bis 70 Prozent senken. Das Vorhaben werde am Freitag vorgestellt, teilte Gesundheitsministerin Manto Tshabalala-Msimang am Donnerstag in Pretoria mit. Die Preispolitik der Pharmaunternehmen ist in Südafrika, wo fast zwölf Prozent der Bevölkerung den HI-Virus hat oder an Aids erkrankt ist, ein umstrittenes Thema. Die Regierung will den Angaben zufolge den betroffenen Firmen drei Monate Zeit geben, um mögliche Bedenken gegen die Regelung vorzubringen. Im Mai solle die Preissenkung dann in Kraft treten, sagte Tshabalala-Msimang. Damit würden Medikamente den Kranken zum selben Preis verkauft wie an Krankenhäuser und an Apotheken.
