DUSHANBE, Dec 11 (AFP) - Tajikistan will need more than 53 million dollars (43 million euros) next year to fund programs addressing its humanitarian needs and support its economy, said a spokesman for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Dushanbe.

The money is to help fund 45 programs supporting development activities in a variety of fields, including agriculture, social development and the fight against HIV-AIDS, Andrei Sidorin told AFP.

The central Asian country, which borders Afghanistan, is one of the poorest among former Soviet republics.
