SANTIAGO, Dic 4 (AFP) - El presidente chileno Ricardo Lagos anunció este martes fórmulas de financiamiento estatal para apoyar a los enfermos de sida, al promulgar una ley que establece programas preventivos y prohíbe la discriminación de los portadores del virus.

"El Ministerio de Salud financiará completamente el tratamiento de 3.100 personas, entre ellas 140 niños y un número similar de mujeres embarazadas", indicó el mandatario, luego de firmar las nuevas disposiciones legales aprobadas por el Parlamento.

La ministra de Salud, Michelle Bachelet, informó por su parte que el Gobierno iniciará conversaciones con las laboratorios farmacéuticos, para reducir los costos de los fármacos utilizados en la prevención y tratamiento de la enfermedad.
