INDONESIA: Netherlands Grants $4.6 Million for AIDS Program

The Dutch government announced on Monday it has given Indonesia $4.6 million to target HIV/AIDS education to teens in Papua and West Papua provinces. The assistance is being offered because the regional administrations there are committed to fighting the epidemic, said Arnold van der Zanden, first secretary of the Netherlands Embassy in Jakarta. Every day in Indonesia, seven children age 18 and under and one youth ages 15-24 become HIV-infected. Indonesia should incorporate HIV/AIDS prevention into its national education policy, said Giafranco Rotigliano, UNICEF's country representative.
