CHINA: Yao Ming Lends Name to China AIDS Campaign

Reuters (04.18.07) - Friday, April 20, 2007

A new public service campaign to fight AIDS stigma in China will feature basketball great Yao Ming and the actor Pu Cunxin, the UN said Wednesday. Yao plays center for the Houston Rockets; Pu starred in the movies "Shower" and "Spicy Love Soup." Posters printed in Chinese and several minority languages will include the slogan, "HIV/AIDS will not affect our friendship." "We trust this campaign will help disseminate our common stand for positive action, care and full integration of people living with HIV and AIDS in our global society," said a statement from Alessandra Tisot, the UN Development Program's senior deputy resident representative in China.
