A preview of bills filed for California's 2007 legislative session includes several health-related bills. Among them, Assembly Bill 16, sponsored by Assemblymember Sally Lieber (D- Mountain View), would require girls entering the sixth grade to be vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV). Another bill, AB 66, would require all prison inmates to undergo HIV screening at intake and upon release. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has also made it his priority to provide health insurance for the 6 million state residents who are uninsured.
