Utah Measure Imposes Limits on Sex Education

A new measure passed by the Utah House would limit sex education to the teaching of abstinence before marriage and fidelity after marriage. The measure, which was approved with a vote of 40 to 27, prohibits any discussion of birth control in public schools. Some House Democrats opposed the ruling, asserting that it takes away the rights of parents who want their kids to learn about avoiding pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The bill now moves to the state Senate.
