France and UK Battle Tuberculosis in West Africa

France and Britain will jointly fund a project designed to battle tuberculosis in West Africa, British International Development Minister Claire Short and French Cooperation Minister Charles Josselin announced Wednesday. The Medical Research Center in Gambia will manage the initiative in collaboration with other West African centers. France and Britain will contribute $1.4 million to the three-year program, which will focus on the improvement of TB diagnosis and treatment in Gambia, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
