Abstract: Italian researchers seeking to determine whether the progression of AIDS is linked to age or the method of HIV infection evaluated the cases of 1,199 people with known dates of seroconversion. During the median study period of 5.8 years, 18.8 percent of the patients progressed to AIDS. Older subjects were more likely to develop AIDS than younger subjects, but no significant difference was linked to the method of exposure.
