Abstract: Ralph Gomez, 40, who established the Inner-City Ensemble and Dance Company to train urban teens, died Friday of AIDS, his companion, James Brega, said yesterday. Gomez founded the widely-acclaimed Paterson, N.J., dance company to train urban youths in dance, improve their self-confidence, and develop self-expression and professional skill. Many of the ensemble's dancers went on to Juilliard School, major universities, and to dance with the Alvin Ailey dance troupe and others. Gomez also founded and directed youth programs in the South Bronx such as Project Street Beat, which works at educating IV drug users and prostitutes about AIDS. Gomez died at New York University Hospital in Manhattan. His mother and a brother, of Palm Coast, Fla., survive him.
