Kudos: Get ready to get marching for San Francisco AIDS Walk 2008

San Francisco Examiner - July 17, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO - Thousands of participants are expected in Golden Gate Park's Sharon Meadow on Sunday for AIDS Walk San Francisco. Since 1987, the event has raised nearly

$65 million for HIV programs and services in the Bay Area and has been an amazing example of cost-effective fundraising and extraordinary community activism.

In 2007, 25,000 participants, many of whom were members of more than 800 corporate and community teams, raised a record sum of $4.6 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 42 Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations.

The 6.2-mile course takes between two and three hours to complete. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m., the walk starts at 10:30 a.m. and post-walk festivities, featuring fun stuff for kids, are at 12:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.aidswalk.net.
