Community Research Initiative of New England Receives the 2006 Wainwright Bank Social Justice Award

BOSTON, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wainwright Bank (Nasdaq: WAIN) last night awarded its 18th annual Wainwright Bank Social Justice Award to Community Research Initiative of New England (CRI) and its Executive Director, Julie Marston, and Director of Research, Dr. Cal Cohen.

CRI is the only independent, nonprofit community-based organization in New England solely dedicated to leading the way in HIV/AIDS clinical research, ensuring access to life-saving medications and providing financial assistance for approved drug treatments and health insurance coverage for those in need. For over 17 years it has provided the latest in critical treatment information to people living with HIV/AIDS, including women, people of color and others who have been traditionally underserved. Under the leadership of Co-founder and Executive Director Julie Marston, CRI has grown from serving 300 clients to 3,800 through its statewide HIV Drug Assistance Program. In addition to being the Research Director at CRI, Dr. Calvin Cohen is a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School, staff physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Research Director at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and has authored over 90 articles on HIV/AIDS.
