New AIDS Orphans Assistance Database (AOAD) Launched Before World AIDS Day 2001

PRNewswire - November 28, 2001

WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association Francois-Xavier Bagnoud (AFXB) and the World Bank Early Child Development Team announced today the launch of the revised AIDS Orphans Assistance Database (AOAD).

The purpose of the AOAD is to facilitate communication among organizations and individuals worldwide which provide assistance to children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS and to their caregivers. The AOAD is an on-line tool that allows users to enter information, search for, learn about and contact others interested in helping children affected by HIV/AIDS.

The AOAD will: -- Help practitioners in the field connect and exchange views and insights -- Help community-based organizations and local NGOs identify potential sources of support -- Help donors identify potential implementing partners -- Help programming agencies identify technical service providers

Persons and organizations can visit the AOAD at http://www.orphans.fxb.org/db/ to register themselves and/or their organization, and encourage others to use this tool.

Those without Internet access who wish to register in the AOAD can request a paper version of the registration form via Email, fax or the post. Forms can be requested from and should be returned to:
