Out of the Closet, the largest AIDS-related retail business in the United States, benefits AIDS Healthcare Foundation the nation's largest community-based HIV/AIDS medical provider. "Out of the Closet revenue enables AIDS Healthcare Foundation to continue to provide compassionate, high-quality care for persons with HIV and AIDS regardless of their ability to pay," said Michael Weinstein, AHF president.
Spearheading this fund-raising effort will be Out of the Closet's newest location at 8861 Santa Monica Blvd., in West Hollywood. (310) 659.6180. "I'm excited to report that Bruce Willis has generously donated several personal items including furniture and a leather jacket to Out of the Closet," said John Nieto, Out of the Closet Retail Stores General Manager. "These high-profile donations, will be auctioned off at our West Hollywood Out store as part of our grand opening and all of us at Out of the Closet and AIDS Healthcare Foundation thank Mr. Willis for his generous and much-appreciated donations."
In addition to books, antiques, children's, men's and women's clothing, AHF's Out of the Closet stores frequently benefit from proximity to, and the generosity of, Los Angeles' numerous film and television production companies. In the past, such high profile thrift store donations have included props and clothing from Director Tim Burton's film "Mars Attacks!", garments and props from "The Postman" and "Fear," items from "Selena," the film biography on the late Tejana superstar, and clothing and shoes from the former ABC-TV sitcom, "Grace Under Fire." In August 1997, Producer Aaron Spelling donated over $100,000 worth of merchandise (sets from his cancelled series, "Pacific Palisades") to OTC.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is the largest provider of specialized HIV/AIDS medical care in the United States. AHF serves thousands of patients in California, New York and Florida regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
