The DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company, a unit of DuPont's Life Sciences Enterprise, announced today that its anti-HIV drug Sustiva, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration a week ago, has received unprecedented acceptance by the medical community.
"Wholesale and retail pharmacists have been extremely cooperative in rapidly stocking the drug, and prescriptions are already being filled," said Nicholas L. Teti, president, DuPont Pharmaceuticals. "In less than one week since its approval by the FDA, many state AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP) already have placed Sustiva on their formularies, providing access to the drug for those individuals who are uninsured or underinsured."
