There are many struggles faced by those with HIV, however, for some the most difficult one is disclosing their HIV status.
"The Conversation", a new book, will contain real life stories of HIV positive people and how they disclose their HIV status, along with the struggle to do so. Both sides of "The Conversation" are being shown. Along with the book there will be a video documentary completed by an Austin filmmaker.
"My conversation was with the world at large.... I felt 'a moment of truth and relief'. Unburdened, and free ..." quoted Andy Fraser, musician, formerly with the band Free. "In general, it is better to live one's life with openness and truth. If one is lucky enough to have one 'global' conversation, as opposed to many... it makes it all the easier."
"The Conversation" book and film project's Author, Sebastian St.Troy, is seeking submissions of stories for publishing in the book. Every age, race, sexual orientation, nationality, and backgrounds are being sought.
The project's website contains a questionnaire (either online or a downloaded version), information about the project, shorts and interviews from people who have already submitted their stories, and online connections for various HIV and AIDS resources. The website is currently being developed in both English and Spanish.
The project is currently seeking promotion through various media, AIDS Service organizations (ASO), and individual involvement. There are many ways you can assist:
1. Write a story about the project and publish it in your magazine or newspaper.
2. Promote the project through your ASO by using forms provided on the website.
3. Post the project's information on your Blog, Web Forum, Message Boards, and send out E-mails to your friends and family.
"It is only through open communication, listening intently, and without fear can a true conversation begin." quotes Sebastian St.Troy, Author of "The Conversation". "Help start new conversations about HIV and AIDS by promoting the project. It's time these voices were heard."
Please help promote "The Conversation" and educate the public about the project.
