We're creating a library of fact sheets, reports, resources and internet links to inform, educate, and encourage collaboration and networking among communities and providers. If you'd like to receive porinted materials or receive e-mails from time to time, please fill out this form. Legislative and Pressidential Campaigns : The Kaiser Family Foundation has created a non-partisan news and information site that rivals any other for comprehensive tracking of what is going on with health related politics, including the positions and statements of those running for President in the 2008 election.

The Regional Resource Network Project (RRNP)

RRNP, funded by the Office of HIV/AIDS Policy at the DHHS is launching a National HIV Testing Mobilization Campaign, a national effort to promote HIV testing, policies and stigma reduction in minority communities.

If you know of a conference, workshop, event, fair, convention, or non-traditional venues that may benefit from having an exhibition booth/table and/or speaker on HIV prevention, RRNP is interested in engaging civic groups, faith communities, businesses, organizations, and other individuals that don't typically talk about health issues, especially HIV prevention. American Medical Students Association
Your Guide to Grassroots Action

AMSA provides comprehensive resources for organizing and executing a strategic campaign. These documents provide step-by-step guides to organizing around an issue, creating influential and effective lobbying materials, and getting the message out to those who will effect change. Below you will find the tactics you will need, whether you are targeting the media, Congress, state legislators, or even fellow medical students.

Medicaid Watch

The September 1, 2007 edition of the Medicaid Watch. As always, proposed, pending, recent and/or notable state eligibility and benefits expansions appear in blue, while proposed, pending, recent and/or notable state cutbacks are printed in red. The last two pages contain a listing of sources and resources on state health coverage, with the very latest and/or notable items highlighted in yellow each month.

A Glossary helpfully defining the many acronyms, words and specialized terms used in this report (and in health policy and eligibility generally) appears in the "TIICANN materials" under "what's new" at www.healthlaw.org

This month's issue refers readers to quite a few new or updated materials (again, highlighted in yellow on the last two pages) on the general availability of health coverage in the states and for young adults and immigrants; state Medicaid coverage of health services and state Medicaid and SCHIP cost-sharing; Medicare's Part A, B & D drug coverage; new proposed federal regulations to limit federal Medicaid matching for habilitation and school transportation costs of the disabled; current House & Senate SCHIP re-authorization bills and related background papers; State Pharmacy Assistance Programs' (SPAPs) interactions with Part D; public participation in state Medicaid plan changes & waiver planning; and the inadequacies of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and high deductible health plans for serving the poor.

Please do pass on and share this report with colleagues at state- and local-level health advocacy groups. Your comments, corrections and news items are eagerly invited.
