ADAP Financial Eligibility
  • Income at or below 300% of the current Federal Poverty Level
  • Cannot be eligible for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Arizona's Medicaid program
  • Have no other benefits which could pay for the medications
  • All new and re-certified ADAP clients are required to provide documentation of Arizona residency
You can get an application and assistance with filling out your application through your doctor, case manager, or health department.
How Are Medications Distributed?

ADAP medications are dispensed through The Apothecary Shops. The headquarters of The Apothecary Shops is in Tucson. Medication is shipped directly to ADAP-eligible clients' homes. There is also the option to pick up medications at any of The Apothecary Shops' ten locations through Phoenix and Tucson.

Other ADAP Information

Do You Have To Wait For An AHCCCS Denial Letter Before Submitting An ADAP Application?

No. We will provide up to 30 days of medication to an ADAP-eligible client as long as you have an appointment scheduled with AHCCCS eligibility. However, we cannot provide further medication without your denial form or letter.

What If I Have Medicare?

If you are eligible for Medicare, you must provide a copy of the current determination letter from the Social Security Administration (SSA) Medicare Prescription Drug Assistance Program that shows you are not eligible or only partially eligible for assistance. You must also provide a copy of your Medicare Rx card (Part D).

Waiting List? - Sometimes a state has a waiting list people have to stay on until spaces become available. Check to see if there is a waiting list for the program by contacting them directly. According to NASTAD's most recent ADAP Watch Arizona does not have a waiting list. You may need to try a Patient Assistance Program or apply for Medicaid or Medicare or private insurance. Do not ever drop your private insurance without first seeing if your state will cover part or the whole premium, especially if you have children.
