ISSUE: Training Health Care Providers (HCPs) as backup service is a major activity in HIV Diseases programs. Impact of such trainings could not be reviewed because of lack of followup.

DESCRIPTION: Weekend training programs are conducted for HCPs including Medical Doctors, Registered Indian Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, Nurses and Community Health Workers for the past 3 years. There is a sincere attempt before, during and immediately after the training to assess knowledge and other training logistics. The behavioural change because of trainings could not be assessed. Alumni Meetings for all trainees attempted after six months to one year of training. 82 trainings conducted and 6 Alumni Meetings conducted.

LESSONS LEARNED: 23% of trainees attended Alumni Meetings lasting 5 hours, agenda included sharing experience, open forums, small group interaction, brainstorming exercises to find gaps in translating learning into action and updating. There was a free exchange of news Assembly as trainings were built on trainees existing knowledge and gaps. Impact of training program was visible during Alumni Meeting. Recommendation: HCPs trainings to be followed by Periodical Alumni Meetings where trainees form resource as effective followup strategy.
