ISSUE: About 1.800.000 cameroonians live todays with HIV on a popualtion estimated at 15.000.000 inhabitant (12 percent). Among sex workers the percentage is around 17,790 %. However, many campaing of prevention are orientated on this target group, considered to be more vulnerable. This increased percentage encouraged us to reinforce the prevention among sex workers by vulgarising female condom.

DESCRIPTION: During a period of 24 months,we have identified, collaborated and worked with 150 femele sex workers on the 3 hottest places (sexually active ) of the nation capital. The purpose of the program was to give skills and competences to sex workers in order to increase their possibilties to prevent STD/AIDS,increase the use of female condom, promote low risk habits. The following activities was done: Elaboration of training modules - training of girls -making up prospectus - making up communication support - information, education and communication -vulgarisation of female condom - distribution and female condom social marketing - visit of technical evaluation.

LESSONS LEARNED: Among the 150 female sex workers, 10 abandoned the program, 130 systematically used female condom; their clients who did not supported male condom appreciated.5 girls revealed the secondary effets ( itching,commodity...),but clinically and scientifically, there was no sanitary risk as far as the use of female condom. Recommandations: Female condom is an effiscent supplementary mean to fight against HIV/AIDS. its use in a large -scale requires a more important vulgarisation among the different social strata, an accessibility of prices, a disponibility of the product and a more sympathetic presentation of the female condom
