MMHRC has been pioneering in the HIV/AIDS care field since 1997, where no hospitals don't come forward to take up the challenge. The care centre has started having the objective of identifying, providing medical, psychological and nursing care for PLHAs and their affected family members. Service flow: At the time of admission, the informations about HIV positives is collected and recorded. The collected informations are passed on to the counselor and social workers for preparing counseling plans and follow up as per their requirements. During 2002-2003, 218 new HIV positives were admitted which consist of 117 (53%) Males and 101 (46.3%) Females. Among them 198 (90.8%) are single. Regarding the geographical area 98 (45%) are from rural urban and 120 (55%) are from rural. The occupation of the HIV positive is recorded as 28 (12.8% are Drivers, 45 (20.6%) are housewives; 93 (42.6%) are contract labours; 25 (11.4%) are Petty business; 10 (4.6%) are office staff, 8 (3.6%) are unemployed. Majority of them 95.8% got infection through sexual contacts and 3.2% is from Vertical transmission. During admission, 168 (77%) of the HIV positive had attendants with them, while 50 (33%) had not accompanied by any body. Among the attendants, the relatives and friends of PLHAs constitutes 33% mothers joined with spouses is re corded as 25.6% and spouse alone found to be 17.85%.

RESULT: The epidemic has captured all the sectors of the community and it has shifted in to the rural population. The spouse and relatives PLHAs show a sign of accepting HIV/AIDS clients. The provision of services to HIV positives within our Hospital (MMHRC) premises has no way affected the regular inflow of patients of Quality Medical services. Future Plan: Separate pharmacy to provide subsidized drugs for PLHAs. Establishing separate operation theatre to render the surgeries services for PLHA. SHG formulation and IGP promotion among PLHAs. & Networking among other service providers.
