Description of Content: A suite comprised of songs composed and rewritten by sex workers,accompanied by movement & visuals onstage and on slides projected as stage back backdrop. Song No. 1 "A Woman's Life" Push & pull factors illustrate reasons for entering the sex industry. The background slide presentation completes the picture. Debt and landlessness, gender discrimination, & violence all contribute to their situation. Song No.2: "Selling Our Bodies" Situation of sex workers. Illustrates the situation of sex workers living in red light districts. Confronting themes such as escalating poverty, particularly thefeminization of poverty, sex workers live with the reality that women's access to resources is decreasing as are options for a sustained livelihood. Slides-as-backdrop. Sex workers face day-to-day realities of: a hand-to-mouth existence, oppression & violence from brothel owners, clients & police, chronic debt, social & gender-based violence & discrimination. Cambodian sex workers remain vulnerable and powerless & unable to negotiate SS. Song No. 3: "Voice of PLHAs" Living with HIV/AIDS. The struggle against social discrimination. The struggle for access to free and/or affordable ARVs. HIV/AIDS is a living reality for numerous sex workers in Cambod ia. The song is both a sad lament and an angry call - for justice and their right to health & to life. Song No. 4: "Women Network for Unity" Call for an end to oppression and exploitation for SW; social justice & equality, for all;& sex work is work. Fear of arrest and violence, SW have started building solidarity. After decades of being divided and weak. Sex workers have found power & strength. This method has proved inspirational & empowering.
