To optimise process of rendering medical and social assistance to PLWHA in Belarusian regions. Tasks: Provision of primary level doctors with comprehensive (psychological, legal and medical) data and practical resources required for working with HIV+ patients and families; training of primary level doctors on pre- and post-test consulting of HIV-tested patients and first-diagnosed HIV-infected persons setting up of a regional network of "trusted doctors" for provision of organisational and technical support to HIV+ patients in getting medical/social assistance; promotion of more tolerant doctors' attitude towards PLWHA. Outcomes/results of the project: Doctors will develop skills of pre- and post-test consulting of patients; practising doctors will be more aware on the issues of managing HIV+ patients; having attended training workshops, doctors will change their attitude to HIV+ patients; model of "co-operation" and "responsibility share" between a patient and a doctor will be introduced in rendering care services to PLWHA establishment of "trusted doctors" network will put a solid foundation for introducing a "team approach" for rendering care services to PLWHA;PLWHA will have more trust in physicians and will develop incentives for maintaining their own health;HIV-positive patients and their families will be better informed about the disease itself and about specificity of living with HIV/AIDS; living standards of HIV-infected persons will improve. Doctors will develop communication skills and upgrade their professional knowledge, which will help them in attracting and "maintaining" HIV-diagnosed patients and in motivating such patients to have constant interaction with their treating doctors in order to extend life expectancy and to improve living standards of HIV-positive patients. Access to friendly and high-quality consulting will result in mitigation of PLHA psychological stress and their easier social adaptation.
