ISSUES: COMVENSIDA is a Internet site that arises from the national initiative for the prevention in vulnerable populations by National Center from Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS, with resources of the World Bank. This virtual community was planed as a learning process designed specially for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Mexico, who work in HIV/AIDS prevention, mainly in populations in vulnerability contexts such as Men Who Have sex with other men (MSM), Injectable Drugs Users (IDU), Female and Male sex Workers (FSW and MSW).

DESCRIPTION: COMVENSIDA (http://www.comvensida.com.mx) is a virtual place to support the daily workings in HIV/AIDS prevention of the CSOs and of the state programs. It offers the possibility of virtual interaction, since the participants besides making the proposed activities can consult with specialized advisers, but the most important is the interaction with people who work in prevention which increase the learning process. This site counts with handbooks and bibliograph, in addition to a basic training course in software. It is a place of contact in where through forums of discussion, chat and e-mail people can interchange usefull information and experiences for a common benefit. Other objective is to extend the prevention information with the experiences in Mexico.

LESSONS LEARNED: Through the use of new technologies of information and<communication, based in long distance education methodologies, we propose a training in that people, organizations and institutions can coparticipate in their own learning by integrated to a community with common objectives. Recommendation: The availability of similar sites must be consider like a place of confluence of a community conformed by the different actors from regional and national level.<IMG SRC="images/prog/C10388_IMG1.jpg" border=0>
