BACKGROUND: Nagaland is situated in the northeastern part of India bordering Myanmar. It is one of the sixth high prevalent states in India. Dimapur is the commercial hub of Nagaland and it has the highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS/STDs in Nagaland. The ongoing campaign against HIV/AIDS/STD at Dimapur is gaining momentum in the past 3-4 years and HIV + people are coming out more openly for counseling and treatment. Owing to its unique location in the foothills, Dimapur has population made up of all the diverse races of the Indian union. The pattern of different manifestations of STDs and HIV infection is recorded over the past 5 years ( 1999-2003)
METHODS: Patient particulars are recorded, basic investigations are done. All the lesions present on the patients are photographed.
RESULTS: Different manifestations of HIV infections is observed in different categories of patients
CONCLUSION: The presentations observed in various patients here in the third world country differs from the classical descriptions in the journals from the first world.
