As the first gay supporting hotline in China, Beijing Tongzhi Hotline was established in 1997. In 2002, we registered as Beijing Gender Health Education Institution (BGHEI). The mission of the hotline is to support the life and health of the gay community through counseling and other assistances. The character of the hotline is that all members in the hotline are gay people. So the service we provide can very much meet the needs of the community. While publicize the knowledge of Aids prevention, we also understand that the admission to the sexual orientation is also very important in Aids prevention. Apart from this, we use different ways to bring gay people together to do something they are interested, and later on we can put the education into our interesting activities, like the sport, outing, and private party. To cooperate with government is also very important. We many times cooperated with government departments to hold different kinds of training among gay communities and university students. To cooperate with scientific study by academic institutions is also very important and useful in publicize the knowledge among the community. We are going to use our successful and failure examples to demonstrate to the audience how we carry out different activities in response to HIV/AIDS in the socialist China.
