ISSUES:-Lack of health centres and isolation of villages. Hight cost of birth attendance for women in rural areas Lack of training, capacity building and qualifications for traditional birth attendants. Traditional birth attendants haven't been trained on mother to child transmission program. Pregnant women don't benefit of the mother to child transmission program Lack of protection for traditional birth attendant in their activities of birth attendance. The encrease of infections, deaths, orphans and vulnerable children and widows. Absence of structures for voluntary testing. Absence of nevirapine protocol in favour of pregnant women Absence of nutrition dispositions for newborn.
DESCRIPTION: Systematisation of mother to child transmission program in the activities of traditional birth attendance. Medical care for traditional birth attendants and pregnant woman infected. Implementation of traditional birth attendants capacity building program. Identification and training peer educators between pregnant women and traditional birth attendants. Equipment of traditional birth attendants Sensitization, medical, traditional, nutritional, psychological care for women, young girl and pregnant women. Implementation of an association within traditional birth attendants to support the project. Technical and financial support to women, pregnant women in their income generating activities. Lessons learned. An association supporting traditional birth attendants is implemented which take care of pregnant women and traditional birth attendants in their activities Systematisation of mother to child transmission program to pregnant women visiting traditional birth attendants in the village Recommendation. The project looks for funds to extend hit activities to others regions and to support traditional birth attendants and reduce the risk of transmission of HIV/AIDS in the villages
