The scientific inquiry, in hiv/aids, involving human beings, searchs to get new knowledge that can be useful to the combat the aids. Nevertheless, it deals with the new and therefore it can offer even though unknown risks. However, the research follows scientific, ethical standards and of respect to the citizen of the research and thus, it is made a mistake to think that the participant is in the guineapig condition. Beyond international rules, in Brazil resolution 196/96 exists, published for the National Advice of Health, tied with the Health Department, that regulates all and any research that involves human being. This study aims at to argue on the advantages and disadvantages in a person with hiv/aids to participate of a research protocol. It approaches basic concepts for the understanding of a research; normal international; term of free and clarified assent; adverse importance of the adhesion to the handling and events. As results we got a stack contend advantages and disadvantages of the clinical research. We concluded that, if the participant is informed of its rights and duties, are advantage to participate.
