ISSUES: 1. Faster spread of epidemic in Korea The new infection increase rate was 52% comparing to 2000. 2. 97% of cases is through sexual contact, increase of women infected, and drug user 3. Risk factors increases; Low number of comdom use, Adults with Multi-sexual parters,CSW business expansion, Pressure on Youth from Education System, high rate of unemployed, and Expansion of Internet Business. 4.Social /cultural attitude toward PWHA and AIDS patients is discriminating and stigmatizing 5.PWHA's Isolation and alienation by family and community Description of particular progrom and lessons learned. 1). PPT Vidual HIV/AIDS Education to provide AIDS Education through PPT slides to groups at risk. Over 13,203 school teens, 2,187 women at high risk, 432 homeless individuals, and 1,002 military servicemen through intensive education in 2001 2) Vidual Street perfomance and mobile counseling designed open-air campaigne with exhibition, dancing, AIDS quiz contest. This drew the attention of mostly teenagers and young adult group. The SA team contacted with over 46,000 individuals, 997 volunteers participated,1,757 cases of Media coverage in 2001. Another strategic AIDS program by the SA team was Mobile Counseling on HIV/AIDS. The team set 2 or 3 counseling booths on the street giving out AIDS quiz papers. In 2001, 1,480 individuals was helped, 198 volunteers recruited from the community by this. 3) Caregiving for PWHA and their family :To provide emotional /practical support to PWHA through one to one contact, mentoring pattern relationship through strict confidentiality were established. 16 trained caregivers were connected to 54 PWHA in 2001. 4) Counselling on the Web.:For HIV/AIDS phobia and PWHA On the Web anonymously. 1,131 cases in 2 months.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Hospice care is urgent. Social Service sectors to be involved in HIV/AIDS care and prevention Development of Advocate for PLWHA for human right.
