Community Care is the best solution for comprehensive and holistic care of children living with HIV.CHES has been providing community based care to PLWHA's(People Living With HIV /AIDS) and CAA's (Children Affected with AIDS)from the origin of the organization. The field area is the Cosmopolitan city of Chennai. The target population is mainly, the backward settlement people . The search out of PLWHA's is made effective through links established with the 4 major Government hospitals and nearly 40 private practitioners. The strategies of this care are increasing knowledge of parents, children and local community, mainly addressing the issues of myths and misconceptions, opportunistic infection care, educational support to children, environmental sanitation and personal hygiene programs, counseling support and nutritional education. These components have be collectively provided. Reaching the children in the community is only through their parents, towards confidence building exercise with parents like educating them through one-to-one & group techniques. The program has reached nearly 160 children directly and 4000 children indirectly.
