BACKGROUND: Buenos Aires has 14 million inhabitants and 12000 detainees in prisons and jails. It doesn't know the real prevalence in prisons with data that vary of 2% (well-known people and treated in the prisons) to 30%, ( dates without scientific validation). The lack of adherence to the treatment, the lack of care in the visits with sex-relations, the contention lack and prevention to their relatives have been the reason of our second phase of the project"to Return with dignity"
METHODS: workshops were made to guards, family that converged to the visits you become intimate and prisoners. It was qualified the prisoners PVVS and they were made campaigns of primary prevention to the other detainees. 100 surveys in the guards and prisoners. The difficulties were analyzed with the prison system of health.
RESULTS: 110 detainees of 6 units 125 people of the units and interviewees 30 relatives were qualified that converge to the visitwith sex relations. The 100 surveys demonstrated a good knowledge of the illness on the part of the whole community (prisoners and guards) but maintenance of prejudices. Lack of credibility in the system, in the quality of the offered services and the received medications, complaints of better quality and efficiency in the attention, and feeding there are more frecuents .20% of them voluntarily doesn't take the medication because they consider it unnecessary. The periodic visit allows the so much recognition of the prison as of the detainees and it allowed to work to improve these difficulties.
CONCLUSION: The provincial penitential service offers treatment to the detainees but the efficiency of the services should be improved offered to achieve a bigger adherence to the treatment on the part of them and its families. The presence of a ONG like UACETS facilitate the understanding of the problems and helped to improve the quality of that attention
