BACKGROUND: In Argentina BCG vaccination is obligatory at birth. In other colaborative study presented in this Congress, we found disseminated BCG infection in 6 / 656 aids children.

METHODS: We present 6 patients with disseminated BCG and aids, who received the vaccine before HIV diagnosis.

RESULTS: The average age was 9 months. 5 of them were in C3 status due to CDC Classification, and only 1 was in C2 status. Regional lynphadenitis, hepatoesplenomegaly and persistent fever were the main sings and symptoms. Wasting syndrome was found in 3 patients, severe anaemia in 2 and hepatitis in 2. The BCG was isolated from axilar adenopathy, blood, bone marrow, stool and liver biopsy. None of them received pirazinamida but also all were treated with antiretroviral drugs. Mortality average was 50%.

CONCLUSION: Disseminated BCG infection has relationship with inmunological status in aids children.
