Octavio Vallejo, M.D., MPH

Dr. Octavio Vallejo obtained his medical degree in Mexico in 1980 and his Masters in Public Health at the University of Miami in an International AIDS Epidemiology program in 1991. Specializing in infectious diseases and epidemiology, he has been working exclusively on AIDS for the last 15 years in Mexico and the United States. His current positions as a HIV/AIDS trainer at the UCLA Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in the School of Medicine and faculty of the UCLA/Pacific AIDS Education and Training Centers (UCLA/PAETC) has allowed him to collaborate with all the AIDS community based organizations in Los Angeles County. Dr. Vallejo is currently working shoulder to shoulder with those infected/affected by AIDS and those who provide service for them.
Dr. Vallejo also serves as trainer, speaker and consultant. Dr. Vallejo's activities in the field of HIV prevention, treatment and education include: community board participation in several AIDS community based organizations in Los Angeles County and he is a member of the National Advisory Board on Treatment and Adherence materials for the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC). He also collaborates with ALIANZA, which is the Latino AIDS caucus of Los Angeles County.
