Daniel Lee, MD

Daniel Lee, MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, California. He currently practices at the Owen Clinic, which is the HIV outpatient clinic at UCSD Medical Center.

Dr. Lee attended UCLA for his undergraduate degree and received his MD degree at UCSD School of Medicine. In 1998, he finished his Internal Medicine internship and residency at UCSD Medical Center and subsequently joined the Internal Medicine faculty at the Owen Clinic.

Dr. Lee also serves on the faculty for the San Diego AIDS Education Training Center. He provides training for primary care providers interested in learning more about HIV-related care. In addition, Dr. Lee provides medical care for HIV-positive inmates at the San Diego County Jail and R.J. Donovan State Prison.

In early 1999, Dr. Lee started a sub specialty Lipid/Lipodystrophy Clinic soon after joining the Owen Clinic. This clinic focuses on the problems of long-term metabolic complications which have arisen due to antiretroviral therapy. He is currently active in research in the management of dyslipidemia and lipodystrophy and has presented several poster presentations regarding these topics.

Other HIV-related interests include the management of AIDS-related wasting. Dr. Lee has been involved with studies with recombinant human growth hormone for the treatment of wasting and fat accumulation.

In his spare time, Dr. Lee volunteers his time for Being Alive San Diego as a member of the Board of Directors. He is an avid tennis player, serves on the board of two tennis organizations, and teaches tennis for fun.
