Lisa Capaldini, MD

Dr. Lisa Capaldini has held a private practice in Internal Medicine, with an emphasis on the care of people with HIV disease since 1988.

She received her Medical Degree from the University California, San Francisco, as well as her Masters in Public Health from University of California, Berkley in 1983.

Currently, Dr. Capaldini is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at University California San Francisco where she has presented lectures with topics including AIDS, the doctor-patient relationship and working with gay and lesbian patients.

Since 1998 she has been the Course Director for the Adult Nurse Practitioner Internal Medicine course at the UCSF Nursing School.

With over 10 years of clinical experience, Dr. Capaldini has had the opportunity to act as Attending Physician at the San Francisco General Hospital Emergency Room, and the Screening and Acute Care Clinic at UCSF, as well as other clinics where she was responsible for supervising house staff among other duties.

Dr. Capaldini's numerous educational presentations contain a myriad of aspects regarding HIV. She presented ,"Assessing Medication Side-Effects in HIV Disease", at the First Annual PAACT Conference in June 1999; "Long-Term Complications of HAART", at the East Bay Community Provider Training Project in July 2000; and has presented annually at the National AIDS Update Conference since 1996.

Her areas of interest include quality of life, the doctor-patient relationship, and the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders in the primary care setting.
